How do you do it? While conversing, pause for a while then just ask. Don’t beat around the bush. Be direct. Say, for instance, “Gina, I’d like to take you to the basketball game this Friday, if you’re free.” Of course, don’t expect that she’ll readily agree. Anticipate that she’ll ask you some questions first before accepting. Have ready answers to her questions like “Who’ll be with us?” “Can I have a chaperone?” If she accepts, call her the night before to remind her and make sure that she’s clear on the details.
Be prepared to be turned down. This is just one of those little infuriating facts about being a guy. We get to do the asking and we also get to be rejected a lot. Be calm and reasonable. Ask her for some reason. She might have previous commitments on your planned date or she has more important things to do. In this case, never lose hope. Ask her again for a date some other time. Ask her when she would be free.
If the third or fourth time she still refuses to go on a date with you, giving you a different alibi one after the other, take the clue from there: She doesn’t want to go on a date with you at all because you’re not her type of guy.
If you’re the kind who doesn’t easily surrender, you can try your luck some other time. Otherwise, you better start looking for other girls. There are many fishes in the ocean.
Of course, nothing can be happier than hearing her say yes to your proposal. It’s almost always a sign of reciprocity i.e., she also has a special feeling for you. Don’t, however, always count on it. You might be reading her the wrong way. Maybe, she just wants to be friends with you. The best way to validate this feeling is to ask her again for another date and another and another. If she always accepts, then you’re in for it.
The outcome of your first date will determine if there’ll be a second date or it will be the last. So you have to do your best to make it very memorable and successful. Not unless she’s head over heels in love with you that she’ll let the dull first date pass and hope for another one in the future at the expense of being bored again.
